Rabbi Moses Cordovero – a 16th century mystic – believed that animals possess a spiritual energy that animates them but disappears when their bodies decompose.
Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, one of the greatest Jewish scholars of the 20th century, said that animals do have souls. However, he also said that they are not equal to ours and do not possess the ability to reason or be moral beings.

According to Buddhists, neither animals nor people have immortal souls that are the center of their being. They’re all biological creatures, and their essence can change and be reborn into a different being. This means that your dog will get reincarnated just like you.
Can Animals Achieve Nirvana?
Nirvana is the goal of Buddhism – it’s a state of complete peace and freedom from suffering. Some people believe that animals can achieve Nirvana just like humans can.
