The dogs were first brought to the United States in 1951 by Max Thiel who moved there from Germany. In the following years, the first litters were born and the Jagdterrier Club of America was formed, but it didn’t prosper and died out because there was no demand for a fox terrier at the time.

Recently, new lines of Jagdterriers have been brought to the United States, and the breed is growing in popularity again. They’re small, hardy dogs that are known for their determination and courage. It was recorded in the American Kennel Club’s Foundation Stock Service in 2014.
